Standard Response Protocol
Tuesday, May 1
6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Jefferson County Courthouse
BCC Hearing Room 1
100 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden
On May 1, Dr. Benke will present the Standard Response Protocol for houses of worship as part of the Safety in Faith’s Next Steps initiative.
Dr. David Benke was a math teacher at Deer Creek Middle School when an active shooter opened fire on students in 2010. The suspect shot two students before Dr. Benke tackled him and prevented further casualties. Dr. Benke has since retired from teaching and joined the I Love You Guys Foundation. The Foundation was formed by John Michael Keyes following the murder of his daughter, Emily Keyes, at Platte Canyon High School in 2006.
In 2009 the Foundation collaborated with schools and first responders to create the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and began an outreach program to educate schools and first responders on the protocol. The results have been astonishing: millions of students; hundreds of thousands of educators, administrators, and school staff; and tens of thousands of first responders now have the same training and expectations during a crisis.
The Standard Response Protocol is not just for schools any more. This program can be life saving for any organization, including yours. Therefore, we encourage your administration and members of your security and/or volunteer team to join us on May 1st for Dr. Benke’s presentation. Please register; seating is limited. Call 303-271-5603 for more information.
